Planning & Control Project Manager - 12 Months FTC - Maternity Cover
We have an exciting opportunity for a Planning & Control Project Manager to join our team in Warwick on a 12-month fixed-term contract starting in June.
In this role, you will lead the planning function within a technical publication managed service, overseeing the coordination and delivery of all service outputs. Acting as the primary point of contact for the customer’s appointed personnel, you will manage work scope, workload planning and resource allocation, while supporting project implementation, cost estimation, and competence planning.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the successful end-to-end management of projects (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure).
Manage and coordinate all service deliverables to ensure alignment with customer expectations, timescales, and quality standards.
Develop and support implementation strategies for new systems and tools, ensuring smooth delivery and adoption.
Act as the main customer interface for scope, workload planning, and resource discussions.
Identify, assess and manage project risks, escalating where necessary and implementing mitigation strategies to minimise impact.
Ensure clear and effective communication with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams regarding scope, timelines, costs, and changes.
Structure project plans logically and efficiently, ensuring progress tracking, timely follow-up actions, and regular status reporting.
Oversee and maintain project planning and tracking tools (MS Project, JIRA, Big Picture), ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Gather, monitor and report on KPIs to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
Lead and develop the project management team, managing workload, performance and professional growth.
Oversee project quality standards, including management of the quality team, ensuring both customer and business expectations are met.
Person Specification
APM Project Management Qualification and/or PRINCE2 certification.
Proven ability to translate business strategy, customer requirements, and project constraints into clear, actionable project plans with defined objectives and deliverables.
Strong experience using established project management methodologies and tools to effectively manage scope, time, cost, and quality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage with project owners, steering committees, senior stakeholders, and customers - including communicating complex or sensitive information professionally and tactfully.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and encourage accountability within teams.
Comfortable working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and delivering to deadlines.
Experience coaching and developing others, driving performance improvement and process adherence.
Proactive in seeking guidance or collaboration when needed.
Hours & Location:
40 Hours Monday - Friday
12 month Fixed Term Contract – Starting in June 2026.
